about

“The Nowhere Dance” is inspired by an Alan Watts Lecture. It had a big impact on me when I first heard it. This line in particular lodged itself in my head: “[Life] is a dance, and when you are dancing you are not intent on getting somewhere… The meaning and purpose of dancing is the dance.” The track came about from little nesting loops I worked out on the piano which we then built up in the studio into what I hope is a joyous “floor filler”.

The Nowhere Dance snuck up a little earlier this year as part of a Louis Vuitton advertising campaign and began winning hearts immediately. The optimism and joy throughout, filled with dancing rhythms and melodies is infectious and a new spin on Rupert's piano compositions.
